Before clicking on your link I tried to guess what number one would be and my best guess was The Song Remains the Same. Of course it didn't even make the list! (although I'll have to check out that other Zep album) So I'm not going to lose any sleep over this.

Am I the only one here who hates Neil Young? #2?

I'm also not with you on that one. Neil is probably second only to the Dead (and side projects) as far as my favorite artists are concerned. Have you ever heard Tonight's the Night or On the Beach?

how the fuck did Englebert Hump-my-dink not end up on that best of list

christ - people have no sense of music.

(although in some ways, the dead's live stuff ON DISC, doesnt measure up to some other bands. they just didnt tweak enough and just recorded LIVE!!! )

Seriously - what were they supposed to do? Super-synch and over-tone all their crap with dubbed in bullshit from sources unknown so dip-shits could add them to some best of list?
I mean my gawd - you have GOT to appreciate the fact that there is nothing but raw talent involved in what we love. There's no machines doing the work - no remastering and remixing of vocals. Ffs - then we couldn't all talk about how good/bad donna was/wasn't, or what shows sounded better than others.
The fact is- The Dead did everything outside the industry and was never a part of that silly game (even tho they gave it a whirl).
I agree with Wharf and Strato - Really - no one is going to get praise for playing a bad ass rendition of a 70's tune in 1991. It was an experience only thing- those that didn't go and *get it* ... well... they wrote good reviews for Englebert Humperdink... im guessing.

i hope i didnt come across as complaining or being negative in ANY way. I was only commenting. I'd rather have live music recorded the way GD did it also. I was only making an observation.

peace

Hey wolfman - never apologise never explain. You getting toothless in your dotage? Why, I can remember a time when there would have been body parts strewn all over the forum if someone tried to smart mouth you. What gives? Don't make me come over there, man...

I'm doing tolerably well, my friend - although my concentration levels seem to be at an all time low at the moment. Mental something or other is certainly kicking in. And people keep giving me f'king deadlines!! Why can't they just leave me alone!!

I love Neil Young. I have so much of his stuff, all the albums (and there are so friggin many) and tons of boots.

The best official live releases are the Arc/Weld pairing. Live Rust really isn't as good. If you've never heard that Like a Hurricane, you're really missing something.
